Origin: Originated from hook of the hamate and pisiform bones (ulnar side) and the scaphoid tubercle, medial part of the palmar surface, and ridge of the trapezium (radial side)

Insertion: Inserted onto the pisiform, hook of the hamate, tubercle of the scaphoid, and ridge of the trapezium

Innervation: The flexor retinaculum itself is not innervated. However, it is related to the median nerve and the ulnar nerve, which pass near or through it

Action: It hold the flexor tendons and median nerve in place, preventing them from bowstringing during wrist and finger movements

Origin: Originated from flexor digitorum profundus tendons of digits 2-5

Insertion: Inserted into extensor expansion on the radial side of the proximal phalanx of digits 2-5

Innervation: Innervated by median nerve via palmar digital nerves & ulnar nerve via deep branch

Action: It flex the metacarpophalangeal joints, extend the proximal and distal interphalangeal joints of digits 2-5

Origin: Originated from flexor retinaculum, trapezium

Insertion: Inserted into shaft of 1st metacarpal

Innervation: innervated by recurrent branch of median nerve

Action: It opposes the thumb

Origin: Originated from flexor retinaculum, trapezium

Insertion: Inserted into proximal phalanx of the 1st digit

Innervation: Innervated by recurrent branch of the median nerve

Action: It flexes the carpometacarpal and metacarpophalangeal joints of the thumb

Origin: Originated from hook of hamate and flexor retinaculum

Insertion: Inserted into shaft of 5th metacarpal

Innervation: Innervated by ulnar nerve, deep branch

Action: It opposes the 5th digit

Branches: It branches into common palmar digital arteries

Supply to: It supplies the superficial palm, palmar surface of the digits excluding thumb, dorsum of the distal phalangeal segments of digits 2-5

Motor: It innervates the flexor carpi ulnaris muscle, flexor digitorum profundus muscle (ulnar half), abductor digiti minimi muscle, flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle, opponens digiti minimi muscle, ulnar 2 lumbrical minimi muscle, palmar and dorsal interosseous minimi muscle

Sensory: It supplies sensory function to the skin of the medial side of the wrist and hand; skin of the medial 1 1/2 digits
